Sofradir Group
The Sofradir Group is a global provider of best-in-class Infrared (IR) detectors and equipment for a broad range of industries.
The Group consists of parent company Sofradir SAS and its two subsidiaries, ULIS SAS, and Sofradir EC Inc, employing approximately 500 staff.
Together, the Group provides a complete range of cooled and uncooled IR detectors as well as night vision modules.
These products fulfill market needs for military, space, industrial, scientific, professional, and security applications.
Sofradir: Leader in cooled and uncooled IR detectors
Founded in 1986 as a spin-off from the CEA-Leti, a leading European microelectronics and nanotechnologies R&D center, Sofradir has led the field in developing and delivering high volume second- and third-generation cooled IR detectors based on its pioneering Mercury Cadmium Telluride (MCT) technology.
As a major supplier to military programs, Sofradir is focused on performance, quality and reliability and has achieved ISO 9001, ISO 14001, as well as the coveted aerospace certifications AS 9100/EN 9100.
ULIS SAS
Sofradir set up its subsidiary ULIS SAS in 2002 to address the market needs for cost-effective IR cameras.
ULIS, located in Veurey-Voroize, near Grenoble in France, manufactures high-volume infrared detectors for low cost, low power and lightweight IR cameras.
It offers a range of small and large form factor IR products for energy audits in buildings, thermography, security & surveillance, enhanced night vision driving for motor vehicles, as well as fire-fighting and lightweight military equipment. Shareholders are Sofradir and GE Equity.
Sofradir EC Inc.
In a strategic move to better serve the North American IR detector and module market, Sofradir acquired U.S. Infrared equipment company Electrophysics, renamed Sofradir EC in 2008. Sofradir EC, located in the New York metropolitan area, develops and markets night vision modules, hand-held thermal imaging cameras as well as high performance scientific cameras.
It also supplies world-class infrared imaging arrays (cooled and uncooled) from the Sofradir Group for a wide range of new commercial and military program customers. Sofradir EC is wholly-owned by Sofradir.
